Some friends have asked me to help them looking for information regarding the approval of Euthanasia in Ecuador and what is known so far is the following:
The Constitutional Court decriminalized euthanasia in Ecuador, so, no doctor can be sued for applying it.
Now, according to the attached note, until April 5, we must have ready the regulations and the process to perform euthanasia, at the moment, the Ombudsman is in charge of this process.
At the moment, Ecuador does not have a Law or Regulation to regulate this Euthanasia procedure.

The Ministry of Health explained this: from the effective date of the document, patients will be able to request euthanasia. Provided that they comply with the requirements established in the Constitutional Court’s ruling: The person expresses their unequivocal, free and informed consent (or through their representative, when they are unable to express it), requesting access to an active euthanasia procedure. The request for an active euthanasia procedure responds to a suffering of intense suffering resulting from a serious and irreversible bodily injury or a serious and incurable disease.
